Optilene® 3/0 Polypropylene Sutures: Precision and Reliability in Surgery

The Optilene® 3/0 sutures by B. Braun are an ideal choice for surgical procedures that require precision and safety. Made from monofilament polypropylene and featuring a distinctive blue color, these sutures ensure optimal visibility during operations. Thanks to their monofilament structure, they provide an atraumatic passage through tissues, reducing the risk of damage and promoting rapid healing.

Advantages of Optilene® 3/0 Sutures

The main feature of Optilene® 3/0 is its high tensile strength, which ensures a secure hold throughout the healing process. The suture is designed for excellent sliding during knot tying, ensuring knot security and minimizing the risk of loosening. Additionally, the low inflammatory reaction in tissues promotes quick and uncomplicated healing.

Product Details

Each suture has a length of 45 cm and is mounted with a DS19 triangular cutting needle 3/8 circle. Sterilization with ethylene oxide ensures maximum safety, while the non-absorbable suture guarantees lasting hold.

Note: Optilene® by Bbraun is equivalent to the Prolene suture by Ethicon/Premilene Bbraun.

FEATURES OF THE SUTURES:

  • Gauge: 3/0;
  • Needle: DS19 - triangular 3/8 circle;
  • Length: 45 cm.

(*) The Premilene 6/0 Soft suture features a needle with a cylindrical circle and short cutting tip, making it gentler and particularly suitable for the eyelid area.

Main Applications of Optilene®

The Optilene® 3/0 suture is indicated for a variety of delicate and advanced surgeries, including:

  • Plastic and reconstructive surgery, where a strong yet gentle suture is needed for sensitive areas.
  • Microsurgery, due to its fineness and precision, allowing for procedures on extremely thin tissues.
  • Ophthalmic surgery, where visibility and precision are crucial.
  • Vascular and cardiac surgery, where the suture must maintain lasting resistance over time.
  • Neurosurgery, which requires the highest quality materials to ensure the safety and success of the procedure.
