Türk reagent - solution for manual counting of leukocytes

The Türk reagent is a solution used in the laboratory for manual counting of white blood cells (leukocytes) in the blood. The technique includes a standard dilution of the whole, venous or widespread blood, followed by the microscope count of the elements present in a volume unit of the cell suspension thus obtained. Acetic acid present in the solution determines the lysis of red blood cells, which otherwise could interfere with counting, while the dye highlights leukocytes, making cellular nuclei clearly visible.

Main features:

  • Accurate leukocytes count: The Türk solution allows you to obtain a sample without red blood cells and with the nuclei of well-highlighted leukocytes, facilitating the quantitative determination of white blood cells.
  • Ready to use solution: The reagent is generally ready to use and does not require further dilutions, guaranteeing stability and constant effectiveness of coloring.
  • Diagnostic applications: Indispensable for hematological examinations, Türk's reagent is used in clinical laboratories for the diagnosis of conditions that involve alterations of leukocytes, such as infections, inflammation or hematological disorders.
  • Mechanism of action: Acetic acid Lisia Red blood cells By reducing blood viscosity, while the violet of gentian colors leukocytes nuclei, improving visibility to microscope.

Additional information:

  • Diagnostic purpose: Essential tool for cell diagnostics and quantitative monitoring of leukocytes.
  • Precautions: Although the concentration of the solution is low, it must be handled following normal safety practices and industrial hygiene, as it can be irritating.

Format and quantity:

500 ml bottle: an ideal amount for clinical laboratories and hospitals, which allows regular use and optimal preservation of the reagent.
