Histoacryl® – Tissue adhesive for wound closure, sclerotherapy, and mesh fixation
Histoacryl® is a high-quality tissue adhesive designed for precise and safe clinical applications. Available in two color variants, Histoacryl® perfectly adapts to various medical needs, ensuring effectiveness, speed, and comfort for both the patient and the healthcare operator.
The transparent color is ideal for applications on the face or visible areas, ensuring an optimal aesthetic result, while the blue color allows for precise control of the applied amount, making it perfect for all other approved indications.
Quick and safe wound closure
Histoacryl® allows for closure of skin wounds in seconds, significantly reducing pain compared to traditional sutures. It acts as an antimicrobial barrier, protecting the wound and supporting healing.
Clinical applications of Histoacryl®
Closure of the skin
Histoacryl® is ideal for closing non-tension skin wounds, such as clean surgical incisions, incisions from access for minimally invasive surgery, or simple and well-cleaned traumatic lacerations. Thanks to its quick and painless application, it represents a valid alternative to traditional sutures, improving the patient experience and the aesthetic appearance of the scar.
Thanks to its quick and painless application, Histoacryl® represents an effective alternative to traditional sutures, reducing the risk of infections and improving the aesthetic appearance of the scar.
Sclerotherapy
Histoacryl® can be used for the sclerotherapy of large esophageal varices and gastric fundus, both bleeding and non-bleeding. Histoacryl® can be combined with traditional sclerosing therapies, achieving final hemostasis in 90% of cases and reducing the risk of re-bleeding compared to ligation.
Mesh fixation
Another advantage of Histoacryl® is the non-invasive fixation of surgical meshes, particularly useful in inguinal hernia surgery. Scientific literature shows that this method is better tolerated by patients compared to traditional fixations. Additionally, Histoacryl® can be used with various hernia repair techniques, ensuring a recurrence rate comparable to conventional methods, with low intra- and post-operative morbidity and a lower risk of chronic pain. Operating times are reduced, and in vivo biocompatibility is optimal.
