Cellistypt® by BBRAUN is a resorbable local hemostatic agent made from oxidized cellulose derived from natural cotton. It is used during surgical procedures to aid in the control of capillary, venous, and small arterial bleeding when conventional techniques, such as suturing or ligation, are difficult or insufficient.
The material can be cut to the necessary size without fraying and applied directly to the affected area. It is biodegradable, biocompatible, and is progressively resorbed by the body; the absorption times may vary based on the amount used and the conditions of the surgical site.
Cellistypt® is available in various configurations and densities, suitable for different hemostatic needs in the operating room.
